The Place & the Local Area

The Place is located at 1564 Telegraph Road, in West Chester, PA 19382. The Place is nestled in the beautiful Brandywine Valley countryside. Nearby Marshalltown, PA is a historic Quaker village settled in the 1760s, known for its well-preserved 18th and 19th century architecture. Designated a National Register Historic District, it features historic buildings like the Marshalton Inn, the Four Dogs Tavern and Friends Meetinghouse. Both the Inn and the Tavern are still functioning as a full service restaurant and hotel. The Place is close to attractions like Longwood Gardens, the Winterthur Museum, the Brandywine River Museum, N.C. Wyeth's Home and Studio, the Nemours Estate, Mt. Cuba Center, the American Helicopter Museum and the Brandywine Battlefield Park. 

How Far We Are From Major Hubs

Philadelphia (Center City) is approximately 25–37 miles from West Chester, depending on where you start in the city. The typical drive time is about 50 minutes in normal traffic, making it a manageable distance for those seeking a sanctuary for treatment. Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is about 24–25 miles from West Chester, usually requiring around 35 minutes by car. 


If you're traveling from Boston, MA, the approximate driving distance to West Chester is 320–335 miles, typically taking about 6 hours without major delays. From Chicago, IL, the distance is about 730–740 miles, with a typical driving time of 11–12 hours. For those coming from Washington, D.C., the distance is roughly 120–125 miles, taking about 2.5-3 hours to drive. 


For long distances like Boston, Chicago, Miami and Los Angeles many guests opt to fly into PHL and then either rent a car or take a car service to the facility.  

Getting Here By Car

We strongly recommend using your GPS and entering the exact address: “1564 Telegraph Road, West Chester, PA 19382.” The routes to The Place are rural roads, two lanes, very narrow, twisty and poorly marked. Below are typical traffic routes, however, road repair construction can change the details.


From Philadelphia or Philadelphia International Airport

Leave the city or airport heading toward I-95 southbound. Connect to I-476 (the “Blue Route”) toward Plymouth Meeting. Take the exit for US-1 South or US-3 West / West Chester Pike, then connect to US-202 toward West Chester. Near West Chester, follow your GPS toward PA-162 / Telegraph Road and West Bradford/Marshalltown. Continue on Telegraph Road until you reach The Place at 1564 Telegraph Road, in West Bradford Township.


From Boston, MA (approx. 6 hours)

Take I-90 West (Mass Pike), then follow signs for I-84 West toward Hartford. Continue on I-84 West into New York, then connect to I-684 South, followed by I-287 South around the New York metro area. Merge onto I-78 West into Pennsylvania. Near Allentown, follow signs for I-476 South (Pennsylvania Turnpike Northeast Extension) toward Philadelphia. Exit toward US-76 / I-76 or US-202 South and follow toward West Chester. Near West Chester, follow local directions/GPS to The Place at 1564 Telegraph Road, West Bradford Township, PA.

From Chicago, IL (approx. 11–12 hours)


Take I-90/94 out of Chicago, then merge onto I-80/90 East. Stay on I-80 East across Indiana, Ohio, and into Pennsylvania. Near the Philadelphia region, connect to I-476 South toward Chester/Philadelphia. Exit toward US-202 South in the direction of West Chester. From West Chester, follow your GPS to The Place at 1564 Telegraph Road, in West Bradford Township, PA


Given the distance and fatigue, many guests from the Midwest find it easier to fly into PHL and drive the last 35 minutes to The Place


From Washington, D.C. (approx. 2.5–3 hours)


Take I-95 North out of Washington toward Baltimore and Wilmington. Continue on I-95 North through Maryland and into Delaware. Near Wilmington, take US-202 North toward West Chester. As you approach West Chester, follow your GPS to  PA-162  and The Place at 1564 Telegraph Road, West Chester, PA 19382.

Parking is available on site. Before admission to The Place, our team will send you a welcome packet that includes: 


  • Exact check-in instructions and contact numbers 
  • A simple map of the grounds (Main House, the Sky Meadow House, walking paths, the vegetable gardens) 
  • What to bring, and what we recommend leaving at home 


From the moment you turn off the main road and proceed on the forested drive, you start to feel something different. As you make the turns, progress up the hill, you’re moving out of everyday life and into this sanctuary where the real healing work can begin.
