Starting treatment can feel like a lot. Our job is to make the next steps clear, calm, and practical—so you can decide whether The Place is the right fit without pressure.
Step 1 — Call Admissions (confidential, no-pressure)
Call 240-216-9401 to speak with Admissions. We’ll answer questions, explain the program, and gather only the basics needed to understand what’s going on. If you’re a family member or professional, you can call too. Please don’t share sensitive clinical details by email or web forms. For emergencies, call 911 or go to the nearest ER.
Step 2 — Fit screen (clinical and safety-focused)
If it sounds potentially appropriate, we schedule a brief phone/video call with you and a clinician. The goal is to confirm fit, medical stability, and that we can safely support your needs in a residential setting.
Step 3 — Insurance & financial clarity (no surprises)
With your permission, we verify benefits and review estimated coverage and out-of-pocket expectations in plain language. We’ll explain payment timing and options so you can make a fully informed decision before committing.
Step 4 — Travel & intake planning (logistics made easy)
Once clinically and financially cleared—and if a bed is available—we set an arrival date and walk you through what to bring, what to expect, and how communication works during the stay. If you’re traveling by train or plane, we’ll coordinate timing and practical transportation suggestions. Timing varies, but the combined admissions and insurance process often takes several business days.
Step 5 — Arrival & the first 72 hours (stabilize, orient, begin)
Your first three days are designed to reduce anxiety and build structure:
Arrivals/Departures:
The admissions and insurance approval process usually takes three to five business days. Once approved, we schedule your arrival—Sundays are arrival days, and departures are on Saturdays. We recommend that a friend or family member drive you to The Place and pick you up at the end of treatment. If you are arriving by train or plane, we will coordinate arrival times and suggest transportation to a hotel or directly to the treatment center.

It may be time to consider residential treatment at The Place if any of the following are true:
You do not have to be in an absolute crisis to call. Many men and families contact us when they see things are getting worse and want to act before another crisis or discovery event. If you're considering residential treatment, having an understanding of the admissions process and the intake steps can help you make an informed decision.
Confidential Call
You or a loved one calls our admissions team to initiate an inquiry process. We discuss confidentially, what is happening, answer your questions, review the costs, and gather basic information about your history, current situation, and safety needs.
Clinical Screening
This is the initial step of the admissions process. A clinician reviews your information to confirm that residential treatment at The Place is appropriate and that we can safely meet your needs. We will schedule a brief clinical interview with you, by phone or video, as part of the admission process.
Insurance and Financial Review
This is step two of the admissions process. With your permission, we will verify your insurance benefits and discuss coverage. After hearing from your insurer, we will discuss with you the estimated coverage, out-of-pocket costs, and payment arrangements. You also have to initiate a conversation with your insurance provider independently. This is requested so you fully understand the financial aspects before you commit.
Admission Decision and Scheduling
This is step three of the admissions process. Once you are clinically and logistically cleared for admission, we collaborate with you to set an admission date. You will receive information about what to expect, what to bring, and how communication with your family will work during your stay. This is a good time to contact your company's HR Department or Employee Assistance Program to discuss Family Leave or Disability benefits.
Coordination with Current Providers
With your consent, we connect with your therapist, psychiatrist, and/or physician at home to ensure that treatment at The Place builds on the work you have already accomplished. We will request your permission for The Place to report to your therapist, insurance company, or any other required parties on your progress, before discharge.
Intake Procedures
After coordinating insurance coverage, out-of-pocket costs, and setting an admission date, the intake process begins. Several intake steps help you prepare for your arrival at The Place to begin the residential treatment process.
Once an intake date is set, there are several intake steps that help you arrive prepared and supported at The Place. You will receive a Consolidated Intake & Consent Agreement file that includes:
