Many men come to The Place feeling worn down—tired of managing life on the outside while struggling internally with shame, anxiety, or compulsive behaviors. At The Place, men's therapy isn’t about fixing you; it’s about helping you relearn how to live.
Compulsive behaviors often develop as ways to cope with emotional pain or trauma. Our trauma-informed program aids in understanding these patterns without judgment, allowing shame to loosen and clarity to return.
In our addiction treatment, we focus on practical skills: regulating emotions, staying present in relationships, managing stress, and building a daily structure that supports stability. Individual and group therapy, combined with body-based and experiential practices, help reconnect mind and body.
For some clients, optional psychiatric support—including ketamine-assisted treatment—can help reduce overwhelming depression or anxiety so therapy can go deeper.
The goal isn’t just stopping compulsive behaviors; it’s about building a life that feels grounded, connected, and sustainable—during treatment and long after you leave.

Starting a conversation about addiction treatment can feel overwhelming. Many family members are carrying fear, anger, or exhaustion—and worry about saying the wrong thing.
Begin with concern, not control. Share what you’ve noticed about compulsive behaviors without accusations. Focus on impact rather than labels. Conversations rooted in care are more likely to be heard.
Separate the person from the problem. Compulsive behaviors are often driven by pain, not lack of character. Reinforcing this distinction can reduce shame and defensiveness.
You can frame treatment as support rather than punishment: a chance to step away from daily pressures and focus fully on healing. Residential care isn’t a failure—it’s often a proactive step toward stability and change, especially in the context of men's therapy.
You don’t have to navigate this alone. Our admissions team can help you think through timing, language, and next steps, whether your loved one is ready for addiction treatment now or not.
