About Us

Our Mission

The Place is dedicated to helping individuals heal and reclaim their lives through compassionate, expert-led behavioral health care, delivered with clinical rigor, dignity, and respect in a peaceful therapeutic setting.
We exist to deliver ethical, evidence-based behavioral health care through highly trained clinical professionals, integrating medical, psychiatric, and therapeutic excellence in a safe, restorative environment. 

Todd Borst - Founder

  •  Todd is the CEO and Founder of Smithfield Surgical Partners- Todd is an experienced healthcare executive with over 17 years of experience developing and managing ambulatory surgery centers (ASC’s). Todd began his career in public accounting with an     emphasis on Healthcare Management and Real Estate Development. While in private practice, Todd oversaw the operations and finances of twelve surgery centers and later founded Smithfield Surgical Partners (SSP). SSP is responsible for the development and management of several ASC’s nationally.  
  • Todd is a high-achieving and purposeful executive with stellar leadership experience and a     history of success. He maintains depth and a breadth of knowledge, extensive healthcare management experience, and expertise in developing and driving the execution of operations and acquisitions, including new hospital/physician joint ventures, ambulatory surgery centers, physician groups, and hospital outpatient departments.   
  • Todd is well-known for his strengths in developing new businesses, leading multimillion-dollar operations, driving turnarounds, and executing growth strategies that exceed organizational objectives. Over the course of his career, Todd has leveraged his decisive and forward-thinking leadership approach and strong background in healthcare finance, accounting, and operations       to evolve organizations, resolve complex business issues, and propel growth.  

melissa Killeen - Founder

  •  Melissa (MSOD, MPhil) is an established Recovery Coach with a broad understanding of the addiction treatment field. Since 2011, Ms. Killeen has coached individuals with compulsive disorders. In 2013, she published the first book on recovery coaching, “Recovery Coaching - A Guide to Coaching People in Recovery from Addictions”. Melissa   received her master’s degree in Executive Coaching and a Master of Philosophy in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania, which is where she developed       her integrative model of executive coaching and recovery coaching. Melissa is a past president      of Recovery Coaches International, an international association of recovery coaches. In 2015, she was presented with the Vernon Johnson Award from the Faces and Voices of Recovery,         in Washington DC. She is a Nationally Certified Professional Recovery Support Specialist     (NCPRSS) and a recovery coach trainer with CCAR. She teaches at Rowan University and  Camden County College in Southern NJ.  

Michael Spadaro - Founder

  •  Michael founded a 24-Hour Recovery Support Phone Line called The Inspiration Line in 1990, and an additional call line - The Inspirational Story Line in 2015. The lines continue to operate today with over 600,000 incoming calls since 2008, 150 calls a day, 24 hrs a day-365 days a year. He planned the convening of the Augustine Fellowship Wide Services Annual Business Meeting in Philadelphia in 1992. Michael created and sustained 10 28 SLAA meetings throughout the Delaware Valley area. He is currently collaborating with the       Bucks County and Montgomery County Probation Departments to generate awareness and compassion around individuals arrested for compulsive sexual behavior. He was the Treasurer     for the Greater Delaware Valley SLAA Intergroup from 2012 to 2025, as well as a member of       the Fellowship   Wide Services of SLAA Board Finance Committee. Michael has organized and    co-facilitated a series of Emotional Release weekend retreats called “Men’s Healing Retreats” at the Temenos Retreat Center in West Chester, Pa since 2019.
